About us

Precious Future Empowerment Initiative (PFEI) was founded to address the operational challenges
faced by Precious Future Vocational Training Centre (PFVTC), a disability inclusion focused training
centre located in Nakuru County, Kenya. Out of the desire to contribute towards poverty eradication by
empowering the youth with disability through inclusive training and employment, that the training
program was established.
The founder was greatly inspired to start an empowerment program for the youths with disabilities from
the extensive experience as the Programme Coordinator of the Integrated Programme for the children
with disabilities of the Catholic Diocese of Nakuru. She also conducted a research on ‘Challenges
facing transition of learners with intellectual disability from special schools to work in Nakuru
county, Kenya’ Findings were that most learners with intellectual disabilities are not adequately
prepared for the world of work and end up unemployed thus living in extreme poverty
PFEI envisions to facilitate success of youth with varying disabilities like the youths with intellectual
disability, general and specific learning disabilities, the hearing impairment, physical challenge, among
others. As the name suggest, they have a ‘Precious Future’ if and only if, the appropriate intervention
comes their way.
